Flight begins at Spirit AeroSystems, where our products are taking off somewhere around the world every minute of every day.  We design and build large structural parts for the world’s premier commercial aircraft (think Boeing and Airbus), as well as top Defense and other cutting edge programs.

Responsibilities

 Location of Internship: Kinston, NC

 

Flight begins with you at Spirit AeroSystems, a place where you can explore your interests and grow your career by working on impactful projects. As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you can expect to: 

  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply teams to develop and guide the program manufacturing and tooling plan.
  • Ensure the identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies and improve manufacturing processes in support of the type design.
  • Use process engineering principles and techniques.
  • Develop, establish, and guide requirements for assembly, tooling simulations and manufacturing configurations.
  • Perform trade and cost studies and assist in integrated product and process teams.
  • Learn about the following areas: Composite non- metallic, Electrical/Electronics, Machining, Sheet metal, Systems and Structures.
  • Gain real-world practical and leadership skills through challenging hands-on opportunities.
  • Connect with subject matter experts, mentors, and decision makers.
  • Be a part of an intern cohort that enjoys organized social, recreational, and volunteer activities.

 

Also, should you be selected as a 2023 Spirit AeroSystems Summer Intern, you will have exposure to several activities including:

  • Multiple Manufacturing Plant Tours
  • Professional development workshops
  • Project Expo (An opportunity to present an intern project for Executive Leaders)
  • Social/Networking Events

 

 

Qualifications

Required:

 

  • You must be enrolled full time in a university degree program aligned to the area of internship.
  • You must be a current sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student in good academic standing
