The Role

 

The Tax Senior Manager is a part of Spirit’s corporate tax team and will lead the global Tax Accounting & Reporting function.

 

Key Accountabilities, this role is responsible for the following:

  • Preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual internal and external financial tax reporting with accompanying disclosures regarding ASC 740, FIN 18, FIN 48, APB 23, SFAS 123-R and other tax accounting standards, including all SEC form 10-Q and form 10-K reporting requirements
  • Forecasting quarterly, annual, and multi-year tax expense and cash tax impacts
  • Tracking tax positions and their potential impacts on the company's cash tax and effective tax rate
  • Maintaining internal control procedures with accompanying documentation (SOX)
  • Oversight over the U.S. income tax compliance responsibilities, sales/use/indirect taxes, and tax incentive initiatives
  • Researches tax laws, regulations, and case law to develop tax positions for the company
  • Serves as the contact for dealing with tax authorities
  • Interfaces with tax and other governmental officials in the administration of tax matters
  • Coordinates with business and industry representatives to stay abreast of developing issues

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

 

Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in public accounting and/or corporate tax area equivalent in private industry, with solid tax technical knowledge in corporate income taxation, with primary emphasis in income tax accounting (ASC 740/ FAS109), including the preparation of accompanying disclosures

 

Education Requirement:

 

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other related course of study

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or other related course of study
  • CPA certification
  • In depth understanding of SEC and GAAP financial reporting requirements and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
  • IFRS reporting experience
  • Systems aptitude and experience, experience with Onesource Tax Provision software
  • Experience with a publicly traded corporation
  • Income tax forecasting, analyzing, and calculating tax reserves, valuation allowances, and tax credit utilization
  • S. Federal and state tax compliance
  • Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
  • Ability to research corporate tax laws, analyze and quantify effect of tax law changes on a timely basis
  • Integrity & strong ethics to comply with legal, regulatory, and company rules and policies
  • Strong financial competence, business acumen, and critical thinking proficiency
  • Problem solver - proactive thinker with practical solutions, analytical, and orientation to be tightly linked to business strategies and financial priorities
  • Excellent technical writing and editing skills, as well as strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Demonstrated work paper documentation skills
  • Strong interest and aptitude for project management
  • Experience with process improvement, proactively streamlining procedures and reporting
  • Strong desire to create value within the role and responsibilities assigned
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and mentor staff
