    Key Responsibilities:

    The Spirit Cyber Security Intern will work as a key participant in the Spirit’s Information Security department. This position will take a consultative and hands on approach to managing specific aspects of Information Security program. The incumbent will lead cross functional teams to access solutions that meet internal security standards and regulatory requirements.

     

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate on security improvements to systems, networks and applications by assessing current solution, performing gap assessment, anticipating future requirements, and providing actionable recommendations
    • Participates in the Security Incident Response Team to analyze appropriate logs, perform forensic analysis, contain exposure and implement lessons learned.
    • Participates in providing 24x7 support for security in production systems as necessary.
    • Provides and learns technical expertise which guides the administration of security tools that control and monitor information security.
    • Researches, evaluates, designs, tests, recommends, and plans implementation of new or improved information security software or devices.
    • Develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures for various security technologies (e.g. Anti-Virus, access controls, Firewall, IDS/IPS, etc.)
    • Provides input to Information Security policies and standards
    • Recognizes problems and violations by identifying abnormalities, reporting problems identified and tracks problem to resolution
    • Assist in the response to security questionnaires, RFP responses, and audits
    • Participates in Disaster Recovery testing
    • Other duties as assigned

    Experience Requirements

    • Computer Science degree or equivalent technical experience
    • Experience in maintaining systems/networks and/or developing applications or desire to learn
    • Proficiency in the understanding of security tools (anti-virus, patch management, vulnerability management, application security static/dynamic analysis, etc)
    • Strong analysis, presentation, writing, and communication skills
    • Exhibit high ethical standards, possess a professional work ethic, have a strong desire to learn new skills
    • Experience in powershell, python, .NET or other languages preferred
    • Security certifications (CISSP, OSCP, Security+) are a plus
    • Volunteer work in the open source and/or local It/InfoSec community a plus

    Qualifications

    Enrolled in a full-time university degree program in the area of the internship
    Current sophomore, junior or grad student standing.
    Have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
